Tõnis Vint

Tõnis Vint and his aesthetic universe
18.5.-9.9.12
KUMU, Tallinn
A retrospective exhibition of the grand old man of Estonian art life, design, education and more

This exhibition is a great opportunity to get aquainted with the works of the long career of Tõnis Vint, one of the grand old men of Estonian art life. It seems he has been involved in everything: the deep dive into the symbolics of folk costumes, illustrations for books, posters and stamps, architectural drawings, scenography, drawings of beautiful women, outworldish buildings and abstract landscapes.

The highlight is in the end of the exhibition: a documentary about his exploration of symbolics in the Lielvarde belt, an accessory to Latvian folk costume.
