Watercolor on paper
Like in a Rohrschach test of inkblots, Denis Riva not only creates thoughts based on the blots, but creates a different world of weird creatures and landscapes. He maybe sometimes starts with a random watercolorblot in his creation process, but I am sure he also manages quite well to shape the blots to his initial intention. The results are wonderful but also horrible creatures, doing their uncomprehensible work, or fantastic landscapes, or portraits. This was also a good occasion to visit the charming D406 gallery in an old palazzo in the old town of Modena.
