It is time for an important deadline for all artists in Rogaland: June 24th is the last day of registering of this autumn's big event - the Rogaland Open. For two weekends in November the wide variety and large number of artists situated in Rogaland will open the doors to their studios for the public. This will be a unique chance for the people to get an overview and insight into the art life in this county, and a great opportunity for artists to display their work, maybe also arrange an event connected to the happening.
All about registering and the event on www.r-open.no
This door may or may not be opened during Rogaland Open. It depends on whether there is an artist behind it and whether she registers before June 24th.
Presentations, impressions, critics and documentation of street art, gallery art and public art in Stavanger and other places.

Streetart in Bodø

Art in the streets of Bodø
There is really not much streetart to find in Bodø, but if you are lucky you might find a piece of the town's own stencil artist Stein. There are also some very interesting black marker drawings of animals. This is what I found in June 2013:
A worn piece by Stein
A well preserved stencil of Titten Tei and Bamsen Teodor, familiar from childrens' television in the 70s. The sign says "Support the Veterans".
My
Prefer
Someone forgot where they parked their horse
And this gem by the harbour, a handicraft version of the ultimate kitch motie, the fisherman. Here very well placed on the back of a fastfood shack, facing the ocean.

The artistic results of one year at Rogaland art school
Parallell to the graduating students' exhibition at Stavanger Kunstforening, the first grades' at Rogaland art school have their own exhibition at Rogaland Kunstsenter. It is a great pleasure to see what is boiling among the upcoming local artists. I might guess who will develop their skills even further and who will turn to something else, but that would be pure guessing, and I would probably be wrong. Anyway, these are names to look out for in the future.
It is hard not to miss the gigantic fallos straight in your face as you enter the room, and it adds to the fun to discover the miniature men besides it. The simple but sympathethic portraits on glass are touching, as also are the multiple self portrait photos. And the fun mess in the streetart corner is entertaining, after all I am a streetart enthusiast, hoping these girls will soon make their marks in the streets.
