Ingeborg Kvame: Å møte Eva i skogen
Å møte Eva i skogen (Meeting Eva in the forest)
Ingeborg Kvame
5.-7.6.15
Studio 17, Stavanger
Plants and drawings
A gallery filled with plants. Daily drawings of a plant slowly dying. Fertility in the green of plants and a pregnant woman. A setup for drawing the plants.
Reality beats fiction, nature beats the artificial. Drawings or paintings or photos of plants and flowers will only be representations of it, and not more than almost as wonderful and beautiful as the real object. No artist can claim to make something as divine as a plant. But art that represents this beauty may make us appreciate it.
Each plant is a unit of life, it reproduces and dies. An artist may be able to kill life, but will never be able to create life. The closest you get is to become pregnant or to plant a seed.
