Roar Lende
9.4.-10.5.15
Galleri Gann, Sandnes
Paintings of art, work and artwork.
Life imitates art, art imitates life, art imitates life imitates art.
That instant, hilarious or serious moment is frozen in the paintings by Roar Lende. The moment when the liquid metal is poured, the moment where the visitor poses while imitating the artwork, the moment when art is made, and the moment when the toys interact. There seems to be a large portion of love put into these paintings of naturalistic, poster-like style of everyday motives. And a large portion of humor.

"Polychrome monochromes"
The untitled paintings of Lars Strand may seem monochrome from a distance, but the closer I get I discover they are all made of tiny stripes of different colors, hence the artist's definition "polychrome monochromes". The colors are in numerous layers and of different gloss. The art is there in the lines, but it is also in my senses, as the brain translates the visual impression of many colors into one, even color. I am fascinated by the thought that just any other person may have a quite different translation, but we will never be able to fully compare the results.

New streetart in Ravenna
Streetart
The streets of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy
April 2015
These pieces of streetart have popped up in Ravenna since last spring:
Where does the mosaic Space Invader fit better than in Ravenna? Especially one with a halo.
New mosaic in front of the really old ones (inside the Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo)
*
And some bonus pictures from Vieste, Puglia:

Sandnes kunstforening
Linoprints
It is deeply ironic and sad that this is the time for displaying the prints of Trygve Goa (1925-2013) by Sandnes kunstforening in Kinokino. These are part of a collection that was donated to Sandnes municipality in the event of establishing Kunstens Hus (later named Kinokino), scheduled for a grand print exhibition during the European Culture Capital year of 2008. But the cooperation stranded, and the collection was instead donated to Haugesund Billedgalleri. While Goa's print are as intriguing, sharp and full of contrasts as then, Kinokino has faded into a grey mist of despair. The irony is that exactly these artworks that were so connected to the genesis of Kinokino, is first displayed during its apocalypse. Or could this be the symbolical new start of a grand house of art in Sandnes? That would require a miracle (or a massive moral and economical support by the local politicians, which would almost be a miracle).
The exhibition contains sharp and simple masterpieces of linoprints, depicting landscapes, humor and tragedy. I am amazed by how much emotions he was able to put into just some few lines and shapes. This is a travelling exhibition, also a part of the educational system through Den Kulturelle Skolesekken, and the wonderful interpretations and ideas by the schoolkids are also on display.

Cultural happening at the art museum
In this spring's great cultural happening "Kuppelkupp" at Stavanger kunstmuseum we were presented an installation outside the museum, Arabic food was served, and we got an introduction to and a talk with the present exhibition and its artist. A splendid idea by the museum and visited by quite a lot of people.

Nuart history disappearing
Nuart
disappearing murals
by April 2015
Streetart
The duration of streetart depends on many factors: The weather, the owners, the building, the graffiti writers, the painters and the builders. Quite some of the earlier year's Nuart murals are now gone or are destroyed.
But this year's Nuart festival is already being planned, so there will be some brand new murals in town this autumn again.
The wonderful David Choe mural at Våland is quite faded now.
The beautiful Herakut mural behind the Archeological Museum, one of the oldest murals in town, was painted over last week.
And suddenly a parking building appeared in front of the famous Vhils mural, dividing it in two
An already faded mural by Tellas has been attacked with an intervention by Klas Eriksson
