Portable lawn
Public art
Frode Jakobsen and Morten Engebretsen
Tou Scene
Very interesting project: a portable lawn large enough to relax on with a beer in the sun, small enough to be transported around. On display at Tou scene during Tou Camp.

Tou Camp exhibition opening
Tou Camp
26.5.-26.6.11
48 local artists at art festival
Tou Scene, Stavanger
Tou Scene open all rooms at the large former brewery complex for a month's festival of Tou Camp. In addition to loads of concerts, happenings, dance performances, 48 artists take the rooms in use. This has several purposes: This shows the potential of the buildings if there will be sufficient funding for rehabilitation. This shows the difficult conditions of the present rooms. This shows the variety of the artists of Stavanger at the moment. And this is all in all a grand party of culture.
Since the opening of Tou Camp 25.6.11 the artists have prepared their part of the exhibition until the exhibition opening the 9.6.11. Some have chosen to show what they have done before, some show present work, and some have made installations specific for this location and occation.
Here are some highlights:
Exhibition view
Opening speech
Christopher Jonassen
-very accurate and impressive photos of a hand squeezing a stress ball
Agnes Btffn
- recycling the old curtains of the building as draperies, clothing etc
Susanne Christensen & Kenneth Varpe
- a video of waves breaking its way into the room, furniture slowly sinking into the floor. Enter at your own risk, maybe you start sinking too?
Snøfrid Hunsbedt Eiene
pages with drawings from her catalogue are swirled around in the room, covering the walls, floor and roof. Entering the room you enter her world.
Anita Tjemsland
- examples of her accurate documentation of the architecture of downtown Stavanger, to be used on plexiglass or etching
Kristin Velle-George
- in the old archive she has hidden her magic potions, her glowing mixtures. Visitors can borrow a lamp to look around on their own.
Elizabeth Croft
- analyzing and exploring the visual and physical properties of the room, documenting it in a model placed in an archive drawer. In a future renovated artist studio building this will be an archive of how the room looked like before.
Tove Kommedal
This is a box. The art you want is inside it. - message of worries from the future
Line Anda Dalmar
- placing face features from the most gorgeous faces of Hollywood on her own face
Marisa Ferreira
- an installation where the visitors can replace the color digits according to their own wishes
Elin Melberg
- disco shoes, part of the large "I wish I wish I wish in vain" installation
Marit Victoria Wulff Andreassen
- surprising the public by not presenting drawings, but an installation
Evy Horpestad Tjåland & Yvonne Buske
- knitting installation with references to Charles Dickens, pointing to a hidden aggressiveness in the handicraft
Eirik Lyster
- always a pleasure to see his glamorous, twinkling artwork
